The pricing of discretely sampled Asian and lookback options: a change of numeraire approach
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper considers the pricing of discretely sampled Asian and lookback options with ̄oating and ®xed strikes. In the modelling framework of Black and Scholes (1973), it is shown that a change of numeraire of the martingale measure can be used to reduce the dimension of these path-dependent option pricing problems to one in addition time. This means that the pricing problems can be solved by numerically solving onedimensional partial differential equations. The author demonstrates how a Crank± Nicolson scheme can be applied to the numerical solution. Finally, the methodology is extended to the case when the underlying stock exhibits discontinuous returns, and it is shown that in this case the Asian and lookback option pricing problems can be solved by numerically solving one-dimensional partial integrodifferential equations.

Double-Exponential Fast Gauss Transform Algorithms for Pricing Discrete Lookback Options
This paper presents fast and accurate algorithms for computing the prices of discretely sampled lookback options. Under the Black-Scholes framework, the pricing of a discrete lookback option can be reduced to a series of convolutions of a function with the Gaussian distribution. Using this fact, an efficient algorithm, which computes these convolutions by a combination of the double-exponential...
متن کاملPathwise superreplication via Vovk's outer measure
Since Hobson’s seminal paper [17] the connection between model-independent pricing and the Skorokhod embedding problem has been a driving force in robust finance. We establish a general pricing-hedging duality for financial derivatives which are susceptible to the Skorokhod approach. Using Vovk’s approach to mathematical finance we derive a model-independent superreplication theorem in continuo...
متن کاملA Double-Exponential Fast Gauss Transform Algorithm for Pricing Discrete Path-Dependent Options
This paper develops algorithms for the pricing of discretely sampled barrier, lookback and hindsight options and discretely exercisable American options. Under the Black-Scholes framework, the pricing of these options can be reduced to evaluation of a series of convolutions of the Gaussian distribution and a known function. We compute these convolutions efficiently using the double-exponential ...
متن کاملRegularity of a Degenerate Parabolic Equation Appearing in Večeř’s Unified Pricing of Asian Options
Večeř derived a degenerate parabolic equation with a boundary condition characterizing the price of Asian options for both discrete and continuous arithmetic average. It is well understood that there exists a unique probabilistic solution to such a problem. However, due to degeneracy of the partial differential operator and lack of smoothness in the boundary data, the regularity of the probabil...
متن کاملVariance analysis of control variate technique and applications in Asian option pricing
This paper presents an analytical view of variance reduction by control variate technique for pricing arithmetic Asian options as a financial derivatives. In this paper, the effect of correlation between two random variables is shown. We propose an efficient method for choose suitable control in pricing arithmetic Asian options based on the control variates (CV). The numerical experiment shows ...
